We specialize in designing environmentally-responsible, high-quality buildings. We believe buildings should provide comfortable, healthy, beautiful, practical and sustainable settings for people to live in.

What Is "Environmental Architecture"?

Like many others, we're concerned about polluted air and water, vanishing species, ruined habitat, global climate change, and the loss of natural beauty from our lives. We've brought that concern into our work, and we're dedicated to making our buildings environmentally-responsible to the greatest practical extent. To us, environmental buildings, at a minimum, need to:

  • use energy and resources efficiently and use renewable energy sources whenever appropriate
  • be made of benign materials, low in toxicity and minimizing destruction to natural systems and habitat
  • provide a healthy indoor environment for the people who use the building

What Are Its Benefits?

Environmentally-responsible buildings benefit you and the planet. Energy-conserving buildings pollute less and lower your fuel bills. Efficient materials save money and natural habitat. Renewable energy sources reduce long-term expenses and the threat of global climate change.

Environmental buildings are good for people. "Green" is healthy. Buildings that keep heat in and leaks out are easier to ventilate properly, and they seal out pollutants. They stay dry, discouraging the growth of unhealthy mold and mildew. Non-toxic building materials lower the burden that our environment places on our bodies.

Types of Projects We Do

We design residential and light commercial buildings, including new construction, renovations, and additions. Our clients have included homeowners, schools, nonprofit organizations, medical professionals, and business owners. For larger or more complex projects, we join with trusted colleagues, including engineers, consultants, and occasionally other architects, to form a "customized team" best suited to the project's needs.
